Hi guys,
i know you usually use the VIN to identify an engine production year - but can i use the engine number stamped on the block?
Can't seem to work out how....
thanks!
Good luck, Shinny tried to find out the age of his engine from the engine number via Toyota GB and had no luck. Not sure if he ever managed to find out.
yeah i've tried them and had sod all luck. They said they don't have anything to check against.
I thought you could check to see if the car had the original engine in or not........ maybe that was a lie!
The engine number is recorded with UK market cars, here's a snip from my old Rev4 report an my current Rev5 report, both UK NA's via Total Car Check -
Rev 4 -
Rev 5 -
Question is whether that info is recorded with imports. Only one way to find out I guess!
We'd also be assuming the numbers are sequentially assigned!
Could always try a car check on a turbo registration you know has the original engine. Only costs a few quid so not too much to lose.
if you have the engine then there are lots of clues. the parts numbers changed between revs, the plastic parts will have dates on them. maybe even some of the cast parts will have dates.
