[Mk2] [Turbo] Standalone Ecu recommendations

I'm about to start my engine build for my 2 and wanted some opinions on decent standalone Ecu's.

I was thinking about an emerald as my dad knows the guy who designed them so can get good discount. My main worry is if there are many people that can/will tune it.

I want to be able to program the usual stuff in like antilag etc. Budget is up to £1000. Don't mind buying second hand.

What are people's thoughts on decent ones that plenty of people can tune?

I've personally used megasquirt on my MX5, I thought it was good. not sure on its applications into MR2's.

Are Link's still on offer? They seem to be a decent option in budget.

do it the other way round. find a tuner you can trust and is at a distance you want to travel. then find an ECU that they can work with.

The device is only as good as the person mapping it, so long as it has the main features you are looking for then the rest of it is all down to how skilled the mapper is.

Budget about £400 for mapping, fitting may cost extra.

Nothing wrong with the AEM ecus, just need to find a mapper. Link are popular as are many other brands.

Plenty map on the AEM, the software is free so it's no hardship to get hold of. Plenty of help available on there forums etc. If you can get an AEM at the right price it would be worth it.

Couldn't have said it better myself, This is the main thing you should be looking
into, just fount it out myself and went with a good mapped who specialises in
Link ecu's , Walton Smith @ Nispro.
