Hi all,
About to service the brake pads. Where are you getting performance brake pads from?
Would like ds2500, m1144 or r4s. Happy with any of the decent brands, so which ever can supply both front and rear pads.
Having trouble tracking down a retailer who sells front and rear pads in any of those models.
Any other pads to look for?
Car is a rev 4.

Get a set off a guy called Chris Wilson, he custom makes them and they are spot on, I'm running a pair of his fast road/track pads and they are a great upgrade.
Do a search on here for him and you will get all his details

Re: Where to get performance brake pads
I've got porterfield pads with MTEC discs and they work well..
More of a progressive stop rather than a harsh throw you through your windscreen stop. Also very little brake dust.
Can't comment on other pads apart from yellow stuff which are rubbish in comparison

Re: Where to get performance brake pads
In my experience I wouldn't recommend M1144, at least on a road car.
I fitted them to my MX5 earlier this year and they squeal alllll the bloody time, which I wouldn't mind so much if they made a noticeable improvement. They were recommended by many on the mx5nutz forum but I think they're a bit poop.
The Carbotech AX6 pads I run on my MR2 on the other hand.. WOW.
Never tried DS2500 but I've always wanted a set

Re: Where to get performance brake pads
Thanks all,
Have made contact with Chris Wilson, if he has stock then I'm going for them.
Otherwise the other pads all cost around the same so will go for Carbotec AX6, great stopping power but dusty and they eat discs. At least some UK retailers can get the Carbotech.
Someone was saying that the ds2500 isn't available anymore for the mk2.

I dont think you can get DS pads for the stock Caliper. Great street/track pad though.
Re: Where to get performance brake pads
yeah seems like they have ended it now
Chris Wilson came back to me, he does have stock so have purchased a full set of these pads.
Will report back once they are installed, with new discs, on how they perform.
A full set cos the same as just rear Carbotechs.

Do you mean the chris wilson pads or the DS2500? I could really do with a set of DS2500 mr2 rears

Great choice, they are great pads and only get better when you get more heat in them

I'm curious to see how you get on with these; I destroyed mine very quickly and was not impressed at all!

They don't seem to make the ds2500 for the mk2 anymore. they do still list them for the mk1.
Not sure Chris Wilson still makes the pads either but there are some in stock.
Re: Where to get performance brake pads
Rear pads are the same for all MR2's, just the rotor that's different - http://www.primemr2.com/store/p436/Port ... _REAR.html
Re: Where to get performance brake pads
in that case rear ones should still be available for the mk2. good luck with the fronts
Re: Where to get performance brake pads
I'm going to try Porterfield R4S on mine next I think. Good feedback from lots of people.

Ferrodo only appear to make pads for the front of the AW11 and ZW30 for some reason.
I'm going to call these guys to see if they do the correct pad fitment for SW20

RC5+ compound is supposed to be pretty good.
Re: Where to get performance brake pads
There seems to be a few more options in Japan, like Endless for example, don't know if they have a distro here though.

I'm a bit hamstrung for pad choice myself as I have the wms bbk, which uses pads from willwood calipers. Meaning all of the japanese manufacturers apart from winmax don't do the fronts for me.

How do you find the wms over standard?
