OEM suspension install

Hi guys just a quickie!

I'm taking the hsd coilovers off my car as basically they have been set to rock solid, so I've purchased a set of OEM suspension so I can get a feel for how the car should ride before I make further decisions!

Anyway I've literally just gone to install a front shock and noticed, that basically it doesn't fit lol. Bolts up top but won't line up to the hub because its sat to low....so I assume i need to somehow compress the shock until it lines up with the hub. Sorry if I'm being dumb but does that sound right?

I've changed a few springs before and swapped to coilovers etc but never come across something like this before and havnt seen anything noticeable in any diys?

Probably just need to release the track control arm bolt to allow the arm to pivot to a new position.

Yeh the car is literally slammed at the moment and on the hardest setting, no movement what so ever! Looking forward to getting it how it should be, just couldn't see why the shock would not line up!

If it was very low and on coilovers, you may need longer drop links for the stock suspension.

Might be sitting on the bump stops ?

I've got the drop links, rears are same size and fronts slightly longer, makes no difference at the moment as the shock won't fit haha!

Yeh I'm really not bothered by the coilovers, so I won't even entertain adjusting/sorting them out if I decide to go lower I'll probably use springs next time round. The OEM suspension was just to get a rough idea of how the car should feel.

You just need to put a second jack under the shock and raise it until it's aligned. Perfectly normal as the shock needs to compress a little

or put a bar on the lower arm and push it down. Never had an issue fitting stock shocks to a 2.

No offence Androo but don't do this.
Move the bottom arm as there are no fearsome loads to unload by accident that will break stuff including your fingers.

This. Just pull the lower arm down - should be easy enough. You certainly don't want to load a shock / spring with a jack and then try and move it around to get it in

If all else fails, post a photo or two up, just in case something is odd with your setup.

Cheers, will do the lower arm trick. It just didn't look/feel like it could go low enough last night!

Fresh eyes today might help!

Loosen the pivot bolts on the bushes and then tighten them up with all 4 wheels on the ground.
The bushes need to settle in a new position.
