Window rattles

Post by Martin F »

I have two drivers doors for the mr2, they both have the same problem with the window making a rattle when in any position other than closed, anybody know exactly what is required to fix this ?

From memory Scott Barton had this and the cure was to replace the black weather strip on the outside top edge of door, there are some felt type pads that wear and fall off with age that support the glass.

The strips are stupid amounts too.

Probably the felt pads inside the window strip has worn or either come off. Do the window down and have a look you can see them.

I always thought it was a case of tightening some bolts, so it is as simple as replacing the felt pads, excellent, Thanks folks :thumleft:

The felt pads are hugely adjustable, took no time at all and the window is now sweet as, thanks for the replies folks :thumleft:

I didn't remove them (if it is the centre stripes you mean) but if it is then pretty sure it will be a couple of long nuts like the rear and maybe a couple of clips, it is easy to figure out once the inside panel has been removed anyway

OR if it is the black window stripes then very simple, a small screw at either end and the rest can be clipped out (6 or 7 long white clips run along the bottom) :thumleft:
