I've been looking at MR2 prices since my car was written off a few weeks ago

(it's a tin top so pretty rare already), and I've seen several on eBay going for decent prices, one is selling a Rev 3 for around

£3.6k, another is selling a rev 2 for

£2.4k

(needs a respray apparently, not unusual for cars of that age).

As Draven says it all depends on what you think is a good price.

Personally I think they're beginning to rise in value and I would say an average price for a Turbo should be around

£3

-

£4k, they're not exactly common cars and finding one that hasn't been abused is even harder.

It's a great car and worth spending a few quid getting a decent one

- if I was looking I'd be happy to pay at least

£4k for a good one, possibly stretching to more.

If treated well, the engines go on forever.

Mine has now done 143,000, is on the original turbo

- still pulls strongly and is on the original clutch.

It has been driven hard at times but never recklessly and has covered a high proportion of motorway miles.

If you think that

£3

- 4k is too much then it's probably not the car for you.

Spending doesn't stop at the initial purchase, you do need to spend a few quid on ensuring they're well maintained, frequent oil changes, renewal of ignition parts

(I've just spent around

£300 on new ignition bits

- plugs, leads, distributor cap, rotor arm, coil) so it's always good to have a float of money to make sure you keep up the servicing.

If you do that, they will rarely let you down! There's also the matter of fuel economy.

If I get more than 200 miles from a full talk I'm doing well.

You can get more if you drive it like a granddad

(sorry granddads, no offence intended) but then what's the point in that?
