Oil thickness and CP

Post by Odin_S »

My car atm is using 5w 40 full synthetic on 8.0.1 CP Wosser.

Make the oil usage more seeing at there is more of a "gap" from oem 8.5.1 cylinder block gap? There is no blue smoke or any anomalies in the cars running. No leaks either

Just if I do an oil change i can expect to top up the oil in say 6 weeks of use. Would 10w 40 full synthetic help the oil last a little longer

The car is fully rebuilt in 2014, Oil is changed approximately every 3 months.

If clearances are within factory then 10-40W is a good call but I'm currently using 5/40 and have no oil use so far over about 400miles on a rebuilt engine.

I was told 10/40w fully after run in.

If you have driven it properly (lots of boost, right rev ranges) then it should have worn in properly.

Did you run in using fully syn? I hope not.....

how much oil consumption are you getting? i.e litres per 1000 miles?

what was your break in procedure? i.e varying revs, little bit of boost, plenty of engine braking etc?

have you done a compression test since run in?
