Any ideas after timing belt swap
So my timing belt snapped on Friday. I've changed it and fitted a new one but I'm still getting fault code 21 which I can't clear. The engine turns over but won't fire. Any ideas? Its a 94 G-Ltd
Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
Isn't code 21 o2 sensor, might be wrong
Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
It is but I can't find it
Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
I have spark, fuel, all the timing marks were lined up when I put the belt on. It does sound like the fuel isn't getting through
Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
Could the 21 code refer to a crank or cam sensor instead of o2?

Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
Would a defective lambda sensor stop the car starting?
Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
Cheers for the link
Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
No a faulty lambda wouldn't stop it starting, get some easystart or carb spray, spray a small amount in the intake if it starts it's a fuelling issue

Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
Are you 100% sure the timing isn't 180 degrees out? I've seen this many many times on here in the past.
Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
The timing marks were all lined up, silly question but could it be 180 out? There are only one set of marks on the cams

Yes, the crankshaft turns twice for every one revolution of the cams.

Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
But if I turn the crank 180 the timing mark won't line.
Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
Have you checked the wiring? Check that the 4 pin dizzy connector (relatively well hidden on the dizzy housing at about 5 o'clock when looking at it face on).

How so? The cam's pointing down instead of up, with the crank at TDC?

If you have the two timing marks on the cams lined up, is the crank pulley timing mark lined up with TDC on the lower timing cover? If so you have done it right
Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
The cams have a dot and an s on one spoke, those are lined up at the top. The crank has a white mark on it which I lined up with the gap in the casing underneath the cog. I'm thinking when the belt has been changed in the past they marked it with white paint to match the cams so the white paint should be at the top. I didn't look for a factory mark on the crank cog, I just assumed that the white mark should be lined up with the gap. That way the crank would be 180 degrees out. Does anyone know what the factory mark looks like on the crank?

So it was 180 out?
Re: Any ideas after timing belt swap
I'll be honest, it's on the drive and it's lashing down with rain so I'll pull it apart tomorrow before work and let you know but I'm pretty certain it is. As always you lot are awesome, cheers
