Not boosting past 11 psi.

Post by monstr2 »

My car is a JDM,REV 1,turbo with a Blitz EBC,a new CT27 turbo,3''DP,stock

intake & exhaust and an HKS FCD.

It has not been boosting past ~11.8 psi even after i installed the Blitz EBC

two months back (went up to 12.6 psi on one occasion) so i disconnected &

capped the hose on the boost sensor today but even then i could only get it

up to 11 psi in the 3rd gear at 160 kmph.

I have also capped both the WG & TVSV hose.
Can anyone advise me on what further steps i should take in order to sort out the problem? Thanks!

Yes this ... ebay downpipes can cause havoc ... also boost leaks are my nightmare ](*,) ... youve just got to get stuck in 8-[ .. check every hose and pipe , also your bov ... normally a sh/t downpipe course's overboost , but it could be opening and sticking open...

Dont envy you , keep us up dated and we will chime in :thumleft:

To check the wastegate you need a ebay footpump like in the vid (less than £5) attach it like in the vid and see if the actuator arm moves when under pressure ... if it does not its stuck open ](*,) and fix the downpipe with a grinder :thumleft:

The car accelerates quite well till 11 psi as I can take it up to 8 psi in the 1st gear & 10 psi in the 2nd gear.
Thanks!

if the wastegate was stuck open it wouldn't accelerate very fast . id try it with no boost controller or even block off the actuator and see if it boosts any higher. Its probably got a leak somewhere

Should I test it by switching off the boost controller where the wastegate will then open & close at spring pressure?
How should I block off the actuator?

I read in another forum where they said to disconnect the HKS FCD & then
drive the car with the boost sensor hose disconnected & capped in order to
see if the car would boost more than stock.

I'm going to try this today & will get back.
BTW the car is revision 1 so the fuelling is AFM based.
Thanks!

Do not remove the fcd .. just run the car with no boost control and no signal to the actuator .. lift at 15psi if it makes it ... if it only hits 12psi ish you have a problem .

I can switch off the Blitz boost controller & run the car on WG spring pressure or do I need to disconnect the hoses from the WG atuator?

Also set the FCD at 'off' today but would not boost more than 11.1 psi.

Thanks!
