Dash Glare / Windscreen reflection

Post by JLW »

Hi Guys

I'm guessing every single one of you has the same issue here, but wondered if anyones tackled it effectively. expect for the flocking or Upholstery route, purely as I know these both work to get rid of the glare but I can't justify the cost ... just yet.

Any tips or tricks, it seems to be in the worst place possible ( right in the centre of the drivers view )

thanks,

Jordan.

You could try this stuff - it comes in A4 or 1m square sheets and is sticky back so you can cut down neatly to the size you need. I use it to make carpets in some models - it's not as refined as flocking but it's a cheap and easy solution in the mean time and looks okay :)

lol, either your being funny or haven't understood the point, I'm guessing not the latter.
The glare on the windscreen that reduces visibility in a certain spot because of the reflection of the dash.

Yes JD that could work really well mate, if bought in a 1m sheet you could cut out a nice section and stick to the offending part of the dash well. Might
be worth a shot actually.

Use a cleaning product that leaves a matte finish, that will help.

^ this. The dash is generally shiny but first try a all purpose cleaner to clean the dash then use a dressing that leaves a matte finish, wipe off immediately.

I was using some of that grippy mesh stuff. Get a large roll from wilkinsons and just trim it to fit the dash top. I wouldn't say i liked the look but it didn't offend me either. I used dark grey.

I am now planning on making a cover for the top of the dash out of some alcantara i got laying around.

I just realised I linked to the non-sticky version! Sorry. They have the sticky one from the same seller though, d'oh :thumleft:

Ach yeah man it is such a pain!!!!! Some sunny days I really struggle to see the road properly.

I even wondered about a quick dusting of black abs plastic spray..... getting desperate lol.

Good suggestion with matt finish I think I'll give that a go

I use polarised sun glasses, the glare just vanishes.

Had a cheap pair that cost about £30, another pair that cost about £60 and some Oakleys. All worked very well, the colour of the tint and angle of the polarisation make a big difference too.
