MR2 rev 3 turbo head gasket ?

Post by jaggsy1986 »

hi mr2 noob here just purchased a rev1 mr2 turbo that has a rev 3 engine in it. It has overheating issues , thermostat has been replaced and coolant flushed but still same prob.

Issues are yesterday I was driving it and the car started juddering and conked out, left for a min started again fine and then weirdly after a few miles drove perfectly, then a few more miles car overheated and steam pouring out the overflow tube coming from the reservoir tank. heater was hot, then went cold then blew lukewarm air ?

from what i've been reading this is classic mr2 turbo headgasket symptoms although in rev 3 engines this is rare from what i've been reading. what do people think? any replies will be muchly appreciated thanks.

damn that's bad luck! I believe you can do sniffer tests for the head gasket being blown or even a pressure test, I'm sure one of the affiliates near you would be happy to test for you
