how's my ebc setup? peak boost figures telling fibs!

Howdy chaps,

Fitted myself a greddy profec spec 2 ebc and what a cracking little unit. I want to set the car up to run 1 bar only, no higher.

Only thing I've noticed is on pulls I get a steady psi reading, but when I lift off the peak boost recorded is much higher than what's on the display during the pull.

One instance clocked 1.68 bar LOL after I changed in 3rd gear at about 3k. Obviously absolute rubbish.

Typically I'll pull in 3rd and it'll sit at constant 0.7 bar or something (settings near 0) but peak clocks at 1.12.

I'm wondering what could cause this. In the pic above you can see the boost reading is taken from the boost pipe near the heat shield. Is this the best place? I guess just prior to turbo entry? Pacific works created the custom piping and took boost from here but I'm not convinced.

Also, does the boost cable from solenoid to actuator need to be shorter?

Haven't blasted it due to this and being off road for he winter but would like to get some bits tidied up for the spring (like that filthy engine bay!!)

Cheers

Looking at where your EBC\Gauge is plumbed in you're probably getting a high peak reading due to reversion pulses when the throttle closes. Better to have it plumbed into somewhere off the intake plenum like the stock pressure sensor.

Ugh, thanks guys. Shocked somewhere like pacific works wouldn't know something simple like that...... will do. Cheers!

How can I take it from the inlet manifold without a T?

The intake piping looks super thin, even thinner than the throttle body, what intercooler setup do you have ?

The stock throttle body connection is 70mm iirc? The turbo outlet is 2", looks like he's got a greddy (or copy) sidemount which are usually 2 1/4", so nothing wrong with having small bore pipe work, better than going too big actually.

Agreed though, the pressure source is in the wrong place, it needs to come off the inlet manifold, after the throttle body. Just tee it into the BOV hose.

Yeah spot on Rob. It was custom made by pacific works but yeah basically a greddy sidemount copy. I did think it was super thin too actually but assumed it would be stock size. Might measure it and see just to make sure.

Rob do you mean T it where that air filter plastic doodah is?

yeah, remove the little air filter, throw it away (the air is already filtered) put in a plastic tee piece and connect it up there.
