Easy to remove the 'toblerones'?!

Post by Rev2_mike »

I was just thinking how much better the front end looks with the orange toblerone repeaters removed - cant remember whose car in particular i was looking at though. Ive already got the rest of the light at the front with clear/white lenses and was wondering how easy this is to do and what parts you need for it?

Hi Mike,

I replaced mine with the UK style strips as I too preferred a cleaner look.
From memory the strips can be bought from Toyota painted or in primer.
I bought mine in 040 super white at a cost of around £60-£70 I can't quite remember the exact figure - I have it on an invoice somewhere.
Fitting wise allow an hour or so, from memory you need to remove your front indicator / reflector cluster to gain access to one end of the existing JDM strip. Removal is by a 'Phillips' type screw.
Inside the front plastic wheel arch liner, you need to remove partly to gain access to 2? small 8-10 mm bolts. I think I removed the front wheel for improved access
So there's 3 fixings in total not too difficult at all, it's one of those jobs that one side takes 30-40 minutes the other less than 15!

Rowland :D

PS: Have you given any thought to how your going to re-fit side repeaters to your car?

The end result below...

Cheers!

Ive already got ide repeaters on my car, just needed to replace the tobelerones, and get a smoother finish. The broblem is my car is black, and im sure the trim around the car is a kinda metallic grey, is it possible to buy the strips in that colour?

Thanks

Graham

P.s. nice kit!!!

Yes if yours is a rev1 or 2 I think the strips were finished in a metallic grey so you'd need to match the UK strips accordingly.
Best bet is to find out your paint code and quote it to Toyota when you order them.

No problemo!

The easiest way to locate your paint code is to firstly lift the front bonnet and stand directly in front of the car facing it.
Next look inside directly beneath the bonnet catch and there should be a metal plate like this....

Where it reads 'color' is your paint code.
In this instance mine reads 040 denoting 'Toyota Super White'.
I'll find out the table of code references if you need them?
I can't take any more pics' tonight as my camera battery's now flat and it's fri88ing cold out lol

Hope this helps
