How much is this Exhaust worth ?

Post by Martin F »

I have an exhaust I am going to sell but have no idea of how much to advertise it for, mainly as it is a rare exhaust...
It is decent condition, flexi is fine, pictures say a thousand words....

The only issue is the baffle inside the exhaust has broken and you can hear it rolling inside the rear silencer.

In this condition you can't tell anything is amiss unless you shake it, once on the car it is good for 350+ bhp with the right mods and sounds fantastic (I am not saying this to better the price), I am saying it as it sounds like the best exhaust note I have heard, almost like a v6 growl.

Reason for removal is I am trying to get near the 500 bhp mark and with the baffle being loose felt that this exhaust wasn't up to it.

unfortunately it'll need the sheepdog branded silencer cut out and replaced so then it just becomes some old pipe and a generic exhaust box. When you factor in that a decent quality box is going to be ~£100, and a welder is going to want £50 or so to weld it in.. The finished product may be worth £200, that kind of dictates it's current value

And if I just sell it as it is, works fine, sounds Awesome and is a S/S exhaust that is a proper fit for a mr2 what do you think ? It passed an mot in this condition so the buyer could just fit and enjoy what it is ?

In the condition it's in I would have thought £200 at least :-k

if it has dropped its baffles then the silencer has had it, exhaust boxes have a finite lifespan like any other part, it'll only get worse to the point where it's totally broken up inside and it ejects all of the fibreglass packing out of the tailpipe so not really a "fit and forget" thing unfortunately. To put it in context, a brand new HKS exhaust is currently on sale with RHD japan for £281

thanks for your input, I will stick it up for sale stating the fault and see what happens, I would have put open to offers but the for sale forum says I have to state a price, hence the original question... :thumleft:

I paid about 60 quid for a legalis R in a simmilar state, it slowly got louder and louder as the baffles were ejected from the backbox.

I wouldnt be paying 200 quid for an exhaust in that condition.

Yeah, think I am going to cut it up, examine the damage and if I can fix it I will then get it welded up and sold, if I could get £100 for it now I would take it, probably be going for the first option, just out of curiosity :thumleft:
