How are we feeling today? Now today I noticed something rather odd...my check engine light (!) flashed on and back off again when I was accelerating hard....any ideas of what this could be?

Is this a turbo you're talking about? Sounds like fuel cut due to overboosting.
Could be the cold weather, or even a decat and exhaust!Diagnostics check should reveal error code 34 if this is correct.

She's a na rev 3 if that helps at all... She's also missing at just under 2000rpm when cold or wet and it feels like it has a power lag unless you put the accelorator pedal past a certain point....the joys of motoring haha

Sounds ignition related:
Plugs, leads, distributor cap, rotor arm, coil.
The coils on these cars are susceptible to the plastic casing getting brittle with age and cracking, allowing in moisture and poor running.
