Are these interchangeable between the rev 1 and rev 2?

AFAIK, yes.
Although there's different ones for climate control (JDM), aircon (rare UK option) and non-aircon.

Sometimes Toyota change designs mid-production run (eg aerial units on rev3 turbos).

Not sure about the import climate control units... I have had 2 cars with these and one does just what I want and other kinda mucks about for a while and is less responsive with the temperature control. :-k

Both units look the same from the front. I dont think it needed a re-gas as it could do quite a cool temp when it felt like it, but it preferred to do something a bit more cosy or try and slow cook me #-o
Mechanic familiar with mr2s looked at it and couldnt find anything wrong.

I found that I could attach the cables onto the rev2+ (led converted) with screws and it works  I will get pictures when I have the dash back apart.
