Doesn't help , I think I am going to go down the route of cheapest to dearest, so exhaust, then cams, then turbo....
Pretty sure I am going to need a clutch before this journey ends also, it's not the cheapest of hobbies
bad news about the wiring issue but excellent results from the chargecooler, congratulations! really proves you don't need to spend a fortune to get good results!
the turbo doesn't need to be the most expensive option, certainly cheaper than cams.. assuming it is just a larger exhaust housing you want/need it's something you can buy separately and fit yourself at home, including buying new gaskets for the turbo and DP flange you shouldn't be down more than £250

I think for now I am just going to give the car a good clean (get rid of the salt deposits) and park her up for the winter, dwell on what has been brought to light and tackle it next spring.....
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, after changing the exhaust the turbo will be next in line, hopefully get there in the end
when we were pushing the car off the rollers we noticed a loud clanging / rocking noise coming from inside the rear silencer
nothing else has changed, apart from what I have done in this thread, which should have made things better

H Q garage just outside Edinburgh, Russ has been in the business for decades, trust his work, he played about but came across the same issue at different boost levels, strangulation of power once the revs go up...
Air obviously flowing into the cylinder head ok but not flowing out because of an unknown restriction...
You mentioned an exhaust bung, was that in there when Ryan mapped it before? I'd be quite keen to get rid of that! Very frustrating results for you mate! Great news about the chargecooler though!!

It sounds like the whole baffle has corroded and collapsed inside the silencer, shame really as it is by far the nicest sounding exhaust I have heard on any mr2, it might well be the issue as the car was pulling 350 rwhp at higher revs before on a conservative map and 1.6 bar, turbo has been confirmed as having a 0.63 A/F also, but with everything else running so well and the history of the car this turbo should be capable of at least 380 rwhp without changing the A/F.

I'm running a .63 (on a gtx3071r) as well so hopefully it is the exhaust!!
As you've said, start at the exhaust first, there's no reason the turbo would suddenly bottleneck the power for no real reason. Out of curiosity why didn't you leave Ryans map on it? I assume you have the map saved somewhere?

It was very conservative, the car got an extra 20 rwhp at the same boost just by playing about with it and touching nothing else.
It is still ryans map, just been slightly modified
Getting 350 rwhp at 4900 revs is pretty awesome Tbh, very happy with that, just need the power curve to go up rather than down,
Yeah that low down power must be awesome man!! Right I understand what's going on now with the map haha! Ach it sounds like you've sussed the problem already man, it simply has to be an issue with the exhaust! Just out of curiosity do you know what size exhaust wheel's in there?

You really want something 3" from the turbo back, If you want something custom then AAS in newcastle are the best in the business, if you're on the east coast of Scotland then it's well worth seeing Chizfab, they're a really talented bunch of lads and all really sound too

I will certainly have a look rob, more then likely I will just get something readily available though, maybe a nur-spec or something similar, not sure yet.

As (I think) Ashley said earlier, you'll be pushing the limits of..63ar housing at that power level, when it gets to that point you won't be making any more power regardless of raising the boost, as the housing strangles the engine, you can't get the gasses out fast enough and you'll det the motor. Sounds like you've got the right plan anyway, bigger exhaust housing, free flowing exhaust and cams to let the engine breathe
