mongoose exhaust gaskets and/or silicone sealant

Post by masterbateson »

I need gaskets for a mongoose exhaust but have no idea if I can get them.
I read an old thread and someone suggested using silicone sealant.

Anyone tried it?

Assuming if you can high temp stuff would be the best.
I've never heard of using that b4 for exhausts

as above, they'll be universal gaskets, available pretty much everywhere. don't use silicone sealant, it'll make a right mess, best leave it to bathrooms and kitchens!

I've used the high temp silicone in place of cheap gaskets for the last couple of years - no leaks so far on 5 cars. Not the 'proper' way to do it but it works on both turbo and NA cars :thumleft:

Seems to really divide people using fire putty or exhaust paste compared with not using any.
Seen countless posts were people swear by both.

Loctite 5990.

Only makes a mess if you use too much.

never on anything before the turbo or lambda sensor, not on the turbo to DP flange, I usually use a little smear on the rest of the flanges and always on any slip joints
