Blanking strips to replace tobelerones

Post by Hurstie1981 »

Hello,

Just wondering how much they blanking strips to replace the tobelerones are. I have side repeaters so the law side of things will be fine.
So what i really want to know is, how muchy and where from......and also, does it replace the whole strip, or just where the orange tobelerone is.

Thanks

Graham

Hi Graham,
The UK style strip replaces the entire JDM strip. (Check my profile)
IIRC the JDM bumper strip comes off with 3 bolts and the UK strip fits with just 2 fixing bolts.
The strips are available from Toyota and come colour coded, although I do believe they can be bought in grey primer for a cheaper price.
I can dig out an invoice later but from memory I think one side was a touch under £20 the other side was nearer £40.
The pricing is madness, "Why's one side so much dearer than the other?" you ask - I've no idea and neither do Toyota!

So the pair come in at just under £70 when you've included vat and take an hour or so to fit.

Thanks for your help chaps!

Just wondering if any of you know the colour of grey that toyota use for the black cars. All the plastic trim on the outside is like a metalic grey?!?

Can you just pop into your local toyota parts dealer and order them, i dont suppose you know the part numbers?

Thanks

Yes simply tell them you want the 'UK MR2 SW20 front bumper mouldings'

RH Moulding P/Number 52712-17050-A0 £25.12
LH Moulding P/Number 52713-17050-A0 £42.83

Total £67.95

Some of this part number code may reflect the fact that mine were ready painted in Toyota Super White2 Paint code 040 - best to check.
