Disconnecting BOV

Post by mr299ron »

First of all, sorry for all the posts. I've got no other way of obtaining information for all my queries etc :(

Anyway, so the vaccum line running to the bov snapped, as I tried taking it off to then replace it with a new hose clamp, so I did my best to bung up the existing line and the bov itself.

The drive back from work just now was awful. It would fluctuate from about 3-4psi in 4th gear, and then sometimes back to 7psi in 3rd gear, and then only 5psi in 4th. Usually I see about 8 across the board and it boosts fine.

There's also a weird "whale" type groan coming from the car sometimes on and off boost.

Now I know that replacing pipe would just solve these issues, as this wasn't happening before, but can poorly disconnecting the bov give this poor results? Definite vaccum leak maybe?

I've noticed most of your questions have been answered a million times before.

I admits the search on this site is rubbish however you can search with google and limit searches to imoc.

wonder how you can use the search facility better on here?
when i was on MG forum which seemed to be the same, some clever devil did a post on how to get the best results for your search.

Problem is ive completely forgot how you did it.

But as matey said its a lot easier to just type what you want to know in google and you get more accurate results, plus some from other lesser sites too

Dude I know how to search. I just find asking a friendly question is easier than traipsing through loads of crap

Am I losing you here? That so called "crap" means it's not relative to my issue... otherwise it wouldn't be crap.

either way mr ron, you will save yourself a lot of time and get the info you need buy typing in what you want to know about on google.
And the advantage of this is that you get several threads on the same subject and sometomes people giving different advice/tips so you get info from loads of different angles and sources. :thumleft:

Not sure if this method is similar to what you used before but here is one way...

Goto google advanced search

https://www.google.com/advanced_search

halfway down the page in the "Narrow your results by..." section under site or domain put
http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/

search term goes in the top, for example "disconnecting bov"

results are displayed thusly

https://www.google.com/search?as_q=disc ... as_rights=

was asking as when i read that thing I cant remember

About how to use the forums own search, i think the gadgy in question said if you want to search for something, you can put what your searching for in either " these" or maybe it was (these) or poss [these] or {these} #-o

Anyhoo the idea was say for instance you were searching for say BOOST PROBLEMS USING A MBC

You would wack it in between some of the above so it would search for that specific string/sentance.

Were as if you search typing in BOOST PROBLEMS USING A MBC without the search will ping up results from finding any one of those words.

In other words with the above example without the ""()etc search may pick up on the word PROBLEM and bring a result back for your search that has nowt what so ever to do with your topic.

I'd rather people asked questions and other users answered - interaction on the forums keeps them alive. MK2's have been around long enough that pretty much every problem has been covered at some point - if we default to use the search every time, we might as well close this area of the forum!

I understand this if it was quite an obscure question however a lot of these questions have been asked within the last few weeks...and its always the same old questions which just gets boring typing the same answer.

I always do a search on the forums and google before starting a thread.

This goes for anything I need to know.not necessarily mr2 based.

I'm not saying this about anyone on this thread.

But you do get people being quite ar$e'y on forums, they act like
" I'm the big cheese and know it all, what a joke this newby asking a question like that! "

I cant be doing with the likes of that, on another forum i used to frequent there were know it alls like that, its like one big P1551ng contest with some folk.
They like to try and make themselves look like the oracle, by 5h1tt1ng on people.

Very poor indeed Reeves. :-#

Some folk would do well to remember that they started off with very little or no knowledge on something to start with too, its called
