Rev1 Turbo Not Starting - Injector Plug Colour

Post by IMR2T »

Can anyone confirm the colours of the injector connections on a Rev1 Turbo please?

My cars not starting after a head gasket being replaced.

1 - Grey
2 - Brown
3 - Grey
4 - Brown

Also, one of the (temp?)sensors closest to the rear of the car on the metal coolant neck has snapped off its connection.

Would that stop the car starting?

You need to replace the temp senser and also recheck your timing belt, you may have the timing 180 deg out

Assuming the temp sensor only has a spade connector - no need to replace it yet as it is only for the gauge in the dash.

1) Check static timing
2) Check Connector on dizzy housing
3) post up results :-)

The sensors on the coolant tree are green for ect and grey for cold start injector timer switch.
Also check all earths are connected especially the one on the intake manifold.
You could also quickly check for spark and check fuel is being injected (wet plugs)

Cheers Bob, I cant seem to find the sensor on TCB, MR2Ben or ebay, where could I get one?

I had the timing debacle before and learned my lesson, my crank still has the Toyota mark painted on it, so Ive put it to 0deg and the internal cam marks all line up.

It coughs once if I open the throttle?

Getting home to get working on it tonight as the good lady was in a Bikini Comp at the week end.

Balls, another ones broke.

The plastic sensor housing(green) closest to the front of the car has snapped away from the sensor. Theres two wires running from the sensor to the housing which still has the plug connected into it.

Doesnt look like the wires are broken but is that going to stop it starting yeah?

Cheers mate, all the earths are on and it stinks of fuel. I went through all the plugs and they all spark nicely.

Just ordered all 3 sensors for £25.

Toyota wanted £220

You will now have Chinese made sensors.

I would have got the ECU temp one from Toyota, that controls so much and if it is off it will change all your fuelling.

Turns out NO-ONE can't get the larger grey sensor so upon it sliding out I saw the wire strip that had broken so I soldered it and reused it. It's a boffs but it'll do for now.

Turned out it wasn't starting as Id numbered the cylinders back to front.

Car starts now :thumleft:

Just nd the timing set as it bogs down about 3k revs.
