longer gearing i think helped over the scooby.

he was running 340+hp he said afterwards.
we actually were chatting in the queue before the run, nice chap, not bad for his first ever run.
was surprised to line up against him in the end as the queues do jump around alot.

Ive never done a rwyb type day and never been to the pod.

Im guessing you dont choose who you go up against, its whoever is in the lane next to you?

in general yes.

but they may rearrange the line up if say there was some proper drag beasts to put up against one other and not face it off against a 1.2 corsa for example. i think it depends if its alot of grief to rearrange.
99% of the time, its just pot luck who your against.

the scooby owner was about 2 cars ahead of me in the queue but for whatever reason in the end we faced each other.

though im sure if a mate was in the line up very close by you could ask.
i did see a couple of people doing that.

looks like ill be joining a few of you at the pod again on the 8th.

so in VERY quick prep for this, as a last minute decision, i doubt im going to improve on my times, but im going to try my hand at adding Meth to my water injection system, so have some 50/50 mix from devilsown on the way.

DevilsOwn Brew ™ is DevilsOwn mix of 50% methanol (99.99% Virgin grade) and 46% water + 3% Colour, Fragrance & nozzle cleaner (Nonionic Surfactant) + 1% Isopropanol. This is the perfect mixture for you to injection using your Methanol-water injection kit. It is made in a controlled environment to ensure the ratios are accurate to result in a high performance water-methanol fluid formulated.

ive also fitted a quick reacting AIT sensor in the stock location, like in my old car.
**thanks to ashley for the adapter and Rob for pointing people to the correct sensor to use.**

ive also going to fit some gold reflective tape on my IC pipes.
some decent stuff, the DEI reflect a gold
certainly should be useful when standing in line i hope.
worth a go anyway!

other than that, depends on how i get on with the meth in the system, i may crank the boost up a little further.

well im now running a mix of methanol and water for my injection system. (previously just water), in turn ive upped the boost a tad (to 1.25bar) for race situations.

unfortunately snapped a heatshield stud tweaking a few items in the bay before the weekend which i had planned to visit the pod again, so i had to quickly make one of the own, bit ropey, but im sure will do the job ok.
i fitted the heat wrap on the underside of my new heatshield and also first and foremost wrapped my IC cold pipe.
seem to do a nice job, but no real data.
does looks cool though in daylight, ha!

i do feel mugged off a little on the methanol. To my surprise I wasn't expecting blue liquid in the containers and so a good amount of investigating I came across a post online by someone claiming devilsown mark up and brand a windscreen washer fluid as there own 'mixture'.

Sure it's still 50/50 as per my description in an earlier post and will do me and many others fine, just a bit cheeky really as they haven't priced it up like windscreen washer fluid!

so off to the pod again, as a few others were attending.
only got a handful of runs due to a couple of cars spilling their guts on the track, but im happy that my tweaks have gained me some more terminal speed, so ive definitely gained a little hp, and also beat my previous PB even with a slower launch!

now sitting at 12.82@109mph, 1.99 60ft.

annoyed i couldnt repeat my 60ft times, im certain i would have dropped my pb by another couple of 10ths.

next up like like to try a turbo blanket, clean the bay a little and ive got a few carbon bits on the way.

Yeah windcreen wash is a bit cheeky .. i mix my own , buy it 100% meth from ebay and mix it with reverse osmosis water (i have fish tanks) ..

Sure it will do the job though and make your exhaust gasses smell apple fresh

Looking forward to more runs :thumleft:

Decided to spruce up the bay as was looking a little tired.
Plus was bored due to the crappy weather, ha. so decided to get that cam cover off and everything up to the head inlet mani side to get clean and tarted up.
Thinking I may as well get the injectors cleaned and flow tested while it's all off as I've no desire to exceed the 540s.

I'd originally removed the coolant lines to the throttle body up to a point. But with stuff removed and out the way it's made it easier to reroute them under the dizzy now and remove more uncessary pipe work. I've simply looped the coolant line from the elbow and nipple by the tvsv boost line now.

A new inlet mani and TB gasket should be enough. I have some green hose and plan to paint the cam cover a wrinkle blue and everything else a mattish silver. Should look nice.

Nice to see my valves and ports are super clean, still even see the oem markings on my pistons. The water and meth injection is certainly doing its 'cleaning' bonus.
I did a comp test while I was at it too, a nice 147/148/148/146 psi.

1 top, 4th cylinder bottom

2C casting still visible on the Pistons

Clean and untouched! Not bad!

State of the cover :-/

Got to work on the inlet mani, Hammerite smooth.

Rerouted TB line

Image

Lines/hoses now not needed

Current state of cover after a few hours of paint remover, sanding and in the end wire brush drill bits (I prob should have hit it with the wire brush only, saved me some hassle, ha)

Trick with the crackle paint jim

Keep heat on it constantly from the moment you stop painting until your happy with the finish

Did you see the red 1 i done ? That was 5 good coats on to bare metal as its self etching and wont crackle over primer

As for the writing once dry use a blocl with a 180 paper and rub over ot and ot wil come back bare alloy then polish it 👍🏼

Yeh I got some pretty good instructions with the kit. Is a primer for it too.

I'll say it again. There is no lettering on it, so I've no worries here.
Look at the pic of the cam cover, ha

I got a new sticker for mine from Toyota, after having the manifold painted silver. Little details and all that.

Here's my new one:

ha, must be painted with the same spray!!

even weirder, im also repositioning my boost canister thing to that location for my map sensor (you can see it to the left of your sticker) ha. spooky im putting it there too!

im mixing a few bits up, removing anything that is no longer needed and rerouting some of my hosing.
i already have the ISCV line on the intake hose closest to the turbo, and the one next to it i fitted my ait sensor! fits perfect! (i have my PCV to atmos).

a pic from earlier in the thread, you can just make out the ait sensor and iscv line different to OEM
