think its a hell of alot more than that mate. could be 290 at the wheels i suppose.

his is a rev2 mate, he just put on rev3 lights that all

and yes, you do need those sort of mods to reach these fgures.

ps, with that spec there, it would be 250whp or 290 fly.
but he has done more to it since then.

Mines a '94 Rev3 with 82K on the clock. Induction/Exhaust inc decat/Alloy flywheel/Unichip set at 1.2 bar. 267bhp @ the wheels (300-310 fwhp depending on who you talk to re transmission losses).

It's been running this power on the stock turbo & IC with no probs for the last 2 1/2 years & 22k miles.

Mine did benefit from some top-notch mapping which IMO makes all the difference. All the relevant mods on mine could be done for approx £1,600 including all setting up, which I think is pretty good value. A Rev1 or 2 with a chargecooler and a decent turbo could produce some very similar or better figures for the same or less money though, as long as the fuelling was upgraded to suit.

There seems to be such a wide variation to the quality of cars out there, with no real rhyme or reason between age/mileage/condition. Just look at as many as possible within a short timeframe so you get a good idea of what is a good deal.

I see you mention chargecooling... doesnt the celica gt4 have this as standard?

how much work would be involved in putting the charge cooler on a rev3?

Yes, most people use the GT4 core with associated other bits. There's a lot of info on this mod...try a search of the forum.
