Enjoying the MR2 properly (videos!)

Post by axisofunity »

When my headgasket went on my MR2 a month or so after I bought it (Now about 7 months ago) I was told by the garage who fixed it and refurbed the engine that for the next 1000 miles I should take it easy. Well those 1000 miles passed by this morning, so I decided to have a little fun.

I hate being filmed 1) I look very fat! (Not very true!) and 2) I sound very camp! (Not true at all! GF was filming!)

But anyway, this was the first time the 'pedal was on the metal' properly and was on a private road... I was very happy with the car. I reached 110 or so before the road ran out.

The best bit was when I tried to guess how fast I was going after passing 60, and was actually doing 100 (rather than the guessed at 80) so let off the gas and missed my 115mph target. :(

Second video is of a fat looking person testing the exhaust note for the eBay ad :)

MR2's really fun to drive, but I never feel like flooring it, or going faster than 85 or so... I always worry something will go pop... :(

For some reason when they load the first time they may be jerky, watch once and replay for normal speed.

Fixed, remember to watch them in 'original size'

Forgot to mention, roof was off in the video :) So the 0-60 in about 7 seconds was biased with all that air resistance :)

Bah, I ran out of space on the road, there's a hairpin bend leading onto a non-private dual carriageway up ahead, I've heard about a few cars crashing on the bend into main road....
