Final Drive...

Post by pistol pete »

Hi all..
this is all a bit new for me.. but about to fit my gearbox with TRD LSD

Was wondering about changing the final drive as seen a few talk about this..

i want quicker acceleration.. (lower top speed?) as its only used for sprinting
is this worth doing
if so what do i need to do / get
is it something i can change? any detail explanation would be great

thanks
pete

The E153 final drive ratio change you may have read about increases the ratio, thus decreases acceleration, but increases top speed. That's why you need big torque for it to be an advantage.

The parts cost around £700 and involve a 5 hour job stripping and rebuilding the gearbox.
