Door lock

Post by chambers360 »

Stripped out my drivers door to replace with a new one, but ive damaged the lock where the bar attaches to it, is there anywhere that sells new barrels or is there anyway of getting it replaced? I dont really want a different key for every lock on the car....

Better off buying a set of locks, ignition, boot and both doors.
Hopefully somewhere can recon it for you :-k

Just a heads up: There are officially no lock sets of any sort available any more from toyota. They have all been discontinued.

Maybe, if you're lucky, someone may have an unused set flying around, but I wouldn't hold my breath...

Try the 'MR2 Breaking' Section. Someone might have a set and don't forget to get as many key sets as you can. Just having the one can be a pain if you lose it. :(

If you get any barrel from a breaker you could transfer your tumblers to it.

Before I have even got a different barrel and put my key in it and then filed the proud tumblers.

Is that a difficult thing to do? It sounds fairly tricky to swap them over?

It can be a bit fiddle but possible. If your not up to it the you could take the bust one and the replacement to a locksmiths and get them to do it. It would save the headache of having to replace all the locks.
