Brake pad suggestions - save me from the brake dust

Post by wenguin »

I've currently got EBC Yellowstuff pads which are great, but the dust combined with my new white wheels is too ridiculous to maintain as a DD.

Any suggestions for similarly good fast road pads that are very low dust?

I believe Greenstuff are the EBC option for low dust, but anything else, preferably cheaper?

Carbotech.

Edit - you said low dust.

Still, I'd take the dusty Carbotechs for their fantastic feel/stopping power.

all pads make dust, most companies claim low dust in their marketing. I'd invest in some really good wheel sealer/wax and a bottle of quick detailer, a quick spray and wipe down every few days will only take a couple of mins will keep on top of the dust.

p.s, greenstuff would be a downgrade in performance from your current pads, although i'm sure you know this already.

I've just bought a set of porterfields. Still in customs at the moment. Looking forward to seeing how they perform once the new ecu is mapped in a couple of weeks.

I went for the R4-S, their street compound. Plenty enough for my driving from the blurb.
It was between those and Carbotech's. Bob's constant praise for the Porterfield's had me curious so thought i'd give them a go.

Will do. I'll be bedding them in on the way up to my mapping session, ready for some hoonage on the way home

I got them from here http://www.porterfield-brakes.com/
The website didnt like my postcode for whatever reason, so I just emailed them and they got straight back to me and sorted the order there and then. Nothing worse than waiting days for replies.
Ordered on the 31st March and they've just cleared customs today (having been there for the last 3 days!), so hopefully delivered tomorrow or Monday.
