Broken Seatbelts?

Post by fred130111 »

Unbolted my seatbelts to help remove the standard amps and they have reclined completely. Basically cant pull them back down so just wondered if there is a catch or something I need to release to be able to pull them back down.

Cheers

Haha yeah dude exactly that!

The bottom bolt for the seatbelt bracket is now cross threaded. Tried another bolt and the same thing happened. It is in there and have yanked the belt very hard and seems to be secure, just wondering safety wise what's your opinions on this?

Will I need to get the nut / hole rethreaded? Or will it be fine if I can pretty much hang of the belt and it has not moved?

You seem to be asking someone over the internet whether you should risk the seatbelt not securing you in the case of an accident?
I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness.

I would get it properly rethreaded.. Wouldn't dream of driving a car without a properly secured seatbelt.

Thanks, yeah that's what I was thinking. Will have to look into getting that done, no rush as the car is off the road :thumleft:

Exactly that. Perhaps I had not explained the question thoroughly enough. The tip of the bolt appears the be cross threaded where as the base of it is fine and tightens up as it should.

Regardless, I will get it rethreaded :thumleft:

Yeah a die kit would probably sort out the end of the bolt. Although it's a big bolt so unless you've got a die big enough i'd get a pro to do it. Or just buy a replacement belt. You can get second hand ones on here.

Yeah its the bottom hole, the one with the nut welded to the back of it on the chassis.

Its chewed the end of two bolts so its an issue with the hole / nut itself but when I take the bolt out the base bit is fine and the tip is wrecked.

Wondering if I could use a tap and die set on it, never used one before so not sure.
