my new toy worth the wait too

Post by masterbateson »

A few pics of my new toy, I am well pleased even though I still have to sort out the boost probs.
Hopefully you will be able to see why i took it on despite the issues, I feel the overall condition justified going for it.
See what you think.

I spent 3 hours cleaning it inside and out sat soon as i got it on the drive and only came in after it was dark.
Then day after was peering into the engine bay and scrabbling around on my back on my drive, looking into the prob.
Cant wait to have her running properly.

Dont know if its a full kit but back bumper says its an auto pista??

Just found out by looking on mr2ben website that like you said Kev the boot spoiler is autopista.
The rear bumper bit is deffo autopista as its stamped into the bumper you can just about see it on the pics, so just assuming that if bootlid spoiler and rear bumper is autopista rest prob is.

I think i found another hidden treasure too the other day whilst scrabling around under the car, I think it may have new sills under the side skirts

Nice one. Genuine Autopista rear skirt you have there.

I'd whip the skirts off and inspect the sills underneath. Also remove the rear speaker grill trims and see if the sponges are still there (in the inner sill cavity)

Also inspect the inner sills for rot.

Enjoy.

I'll do that! I read the thread (was it yours?) showing the sill repair and the nasty sponge of sill death within :pale:

Had one...... Loved it - regretted selling it at the time it went and have regretted it every day since. Absolutely superb car.

Bumper and boot spoiler are autopista, think sideskirts etc are probably too.

is the spoiler labelled?? (could be a copy)

doesnt look a great fit to me hence why i ask.

not as decent fitting as the bumper and skirts.

it certainly is odd for a 3 piece sideskirt. ive seen another the same in the flesh, is odd to have it in so many pieces. not many have it.

cant say im a fan of the wheels either (at all!), still welcome to the fold, get it in ship shape (engine bits) and itll treat you well.
