Bushes

Post by mr2garageswindon »

Hi there, They aren't really bushes they are more like a rose joint. They will have some movement in them with arm disconnected you can move them around but with the arm in place there should be no play in them. If you put a small pry bar between the arm and the hub where it bolts on you can check for play. Pretty sure Toyota don't sell them seperately. They will try sell you a complete hub. A second hand rear hub can be picked up quite cheaply as an alternative.

Yep, Toyota do not sell these separately.
I have seen on some MR2 site where they were replaced using after market one. Just cant remember where i've seen it.

Thank you :)....the closest I've got to figuring it out was the rear track arm bushes.. But I could only find inner ones (which would explain why they are not replaceable) which are Apperantly more common to cause this issue.. But a friend checked and is certain the play is coming from there as the wheel can be rocked slightly lightly which is a horrible experience to drive with.

There the one's they've gone up in price though they used to be £95 the pair. Someone on twobrutal used them, he said the rear was very twitchy before changing them

Japan 04/1997-11/2001 TOYOTA MARK 2 MCV2*,SXV2* 48-04: REAR SPRING & SHOCK ABSORBER

And a quick look at the diagrams shows the right sort of part. However notice the lack of sw20 in the list. This part number may not fit unless it is the same as the mr2ben one

Very rare for them to fail. I've seen only 2 in 9 years.

I have some rear outer tie bar bushes due in to me in about a week.

£48.00 each inc. delivery.

Not sure exactly what its called but i would think your best bet would be powerflex. There easy to source online and reasonably priced.

These are not bushes - they're spherical bearings. ](*,)

Powerflex don't sell them.

I'll grab those Pete if that's OK :)... Yer all I seem to see is the inner ones going and being more available .. But when I rocked the wheel the only thing that moved was the bush in the hub.. The track rod was solid.?

The tie bar should rotate about it's axis. There should be no in/out play in the bearings.
