Luke's Rev5

Well folks
This is the My mr2
I have actually had it a year and haven't yet drove it on the road

Anyway here's the story ..

Always fancied a clean rev5 sometime

Found this yoke advertised online
Always liked this colour not many about
In Ireland
Hadn't been on the road since 09
So was for sale for parts or repair

Wasn't expecting much when went to see it
It was very green from moss and flat tyres etc it had been stored
It lay outside for a year then was stored in the garage
Hadn't bother washing it before put in garage lol

But was nicely surprised
Good sunroof in it
Quite liked the reg too
It was all complete totally orignal even down to the CD player
Very very little rust , rust is the killer of these cars

Engine seemed good oil still golden from 09

Paint was decent enough bit of Laquer peel nothing to bad
Body was solid sills arches rear pockets etc

So the deal was done

Got her recovered
And gave her a good steam clean

Few weeks after got it

Started to strip it to seek out any rust or problems with it
Nothing overally bad brakes rusted usual alternator not charging
I plan to replace most wear and tear items anyhow
It was just to give me a idea
It had a cracked screen when I got it
So got that removed

Paint work wise there was laquer peel on the quarter panel where had been sprayed before and a small bubble of rust on the roof few light scratches on bonnet

Went to my painter he manage to talk me into a full respray since the roof needed done and one side and bonnet etc

Would leave it quite fresher looking so I did all the stripping etc windows out all trims removed etc

And transported it down to him

And that was about 7 months ago lol
I was in no rush for it anyhow
Well it's now finshed and I will pick it up when I can

Then get it put back together
Hopefully I will remember where things go lol

In the 7months he has had It
I have been collecting parts for it slowly so has worked out well will get a few more up to date photos soon cheers folks !!

Nice one. Nothing like finding an unmodified example (even if you did have to dig through all the moss to excavate it)

Picked up a set of these in mint condition
From a mate not have not tryed them on yet

If they suit it will get them polished up

Be a nice summer wheel

If not will try and get some jdm wheels of some sort

you dont want to put early rev wheels on either get some 17" enkei rp01's look like a sexier bigger more manly set of original rev5 alloys then

Nah, 15s or 16s are the best for handling.

Interesting comparison.

But yeah, depends what you want, 17s look better, but 15s and 16s better for handling. After the 2 years of mountain passes on the Lemans trip, I'm chasing handling, hence running 16s.

16"s all the way after running 17's on the tubby the 16's are a lot nicer to live with.

Pot holes are less harsh handling is so much better and a lot more predictable

Think there off a Rev 4 there in better Nick than my rev5 wheels so do for mean time

Until I get some proper wheels

Prob go for 15s or 16s

Set of gauges I picked up to go in to the mr2
Got a new purple sandwich plate too
