This kind of thing reeeeally hacks me off, i would 't dream of doing this to somebody. I can't believe the brass neck on them. Advertising it for that price while the gearbox still crunches and it STILL overheats!

Just noticed this thread,

Yeah me and Glen went to see it a while back when advertised at 1900 and Glen came back from test drive like a ghost.
The owner in Perth seemed honest enough as he did mention the mileage etc, but we said we would go away and think about it then realised it would either need alot of work and parts to get the mechanics top notch and then there was the bodywork...
Side skirts cracked, a few dings and scuffs, the carbon bootlid had about 10 holes in it
On the way back Glen got a text from the guy saying he would give it to us for 1700 i think even though we didnt even offer anything yet.
A few weeks later Glen told me he said we could have it for 1400 but i knew it wasnt worth it.
So all in all guy seemed desperate to shift it, havent looked at the ad on ebay from new owners yet but im going to look now.. =;

Spooky. Looks very similar to this one already discussed in OT:

I wanted to go see the black one. Booked flights. Said I would give him the £2500 asking price. He said cool, and i paypalled him deposit. He then refunded the deposit and said he needed it bank transfer as couldnt access it, which I said I was'nt happy about doing as I didnt know him. He then said he had someone coming on the Saturday willing to give him 2k and they were going to leave him a deposit, so he would let me know if it was gone. My flights were booked for the Wednesday (3days sooner than other buyer) and I was offering 500 on top. I even sent him a snap of the flights confirmation and asked could he meet me at Luton. I suspect he was tryng to rip me off with deposit but I'll let you make your own minds up.

Do you have any pics of the car when you had it to confirm. When i call trading standards today, I am going to link them to this thread. If you had any pics confirming the reg plate, that would be brilliant.

Cheers

Good for you Dave :thumleft: .. I really do think we should have a sticky (a sort of rogues gallery) for unscrupulous sellers forum members have spotted.

I've been ripped off in the past and It would be nice to save some people from the misery.

Yeah, no problem. I will get onto them on my morning break and get an email address to put it in writing with all this. City Car Sales are now actively trying to sell a car which I have informed them is dodgy mileage etc. They have also seen this thread previosuly and rubbsihed the fact its the same car by stating they got it from down south.

A thread with all the dodgy ones would be a good idea, but would have to be moderated so that a car couldnt be added out of spite etc due to a sale gone sour or something.

It would have to be carefully moderated, unfortunately such things are open to abuse.

Never put a deposit down on a car that you haven't seen. :thumleft: thats one way to avoid rip off merchants.

Plus see if someone near can have a quick pop by and have a look for you.

True .. Thing is it goes both ways . If someone posts a car saying "check out this shed" .. If it really is a nice car members on this forum will call them out on it :thumleft:

Just look at this thread, honest questions about a couple of cars, no ones being vindictive .

I think people should always get a second opinion from this forum when looking at a car. I know I will.

Ach, I doubt it would be abused, would deffo be a great source for potential buyers though, plus a nice source for a cars history (or lack of).
