Glad this thread has helped someone out! I never saw steam on the test drive so that may be a new issue. I just think at that price you want a mint car and that wasnt one. The car never had abs or lsd box which wasn't great.

Should have got the vin no to see if it's an n/a conversion

I don't think it has the correct gearbox still, the guy in Perth said the car crunched going into second gear and so does this seller. So it's safe to assume it's the same non LSD gearbox. This guy has bought this cheap, tarted it up without fixing any of the actual issues and is trying to make more than double his money on it! IIRC it was for sale for £1500?? after some haggling I bet he bought for around £1100! To try now and shift it on as a 4k car is pretty scandalous. Then the issues with the mileage....oh, And the overheating! this is still a £1100 car despite it now looking slightly cleaner than it did 2 months ago!

I remember it was cheap enough for me to afford a couple months ago

I don't remember the original ad mentioning any overheating issues though. The ad did mention the gearbox issue, although it wasn't clear how bad it was from the ad.

It had stickers all over the boot which have been removed.

It is a bit cheeky, but that's the game I suppose.

Hopefully with this thread here, no one from the club will buy it. Maybe we should all put the reg in the post so Googles search bots will index it and bring up this thread? :clown:

I agree that's the name of the game but surely fixing the known issues is the actual way to do it :-k

I'm always a bit suspicious of cars that are being sold shortly after apparently spending so much on them. Could be a good buy if it's honest though!

I sort of understand why somebody may do that - I spent a fortune on my Scooby just before selling it as I had a load of parts I'd never got around to fitting and wanted to enjoy it up to the last possible moment!

I lost a lot of money on that car

i owned this car, bought it from a lad on mr2oc for scrap value, was missing alot of parts, turbo lights wheels interior were all gone, the lsd gearbox that came out it is still in my garage, the shaft came loose and went through it, thats why car got broke for spares in first place, i built it back up with a rev1 non lsd box and st205 chargecooler, ct20, leather/alcantara interior and sold it to the lad from perth for 900, car has always been blue is very clean underneath had yellow bilstiens on it, car is a bit rough on the outside, i fitted the speedo in it was at 38k when i put them in as there was none there when i got it, the old mot was around 125,000 so has done that plus whatever upto what miles is on it now, never worth 4k. probs sumwhere around 1300, although if its overheating probs not

You must be amazed to now see it for sale for close to 4k! 4k cars don't overheat or have gearbox issues.

Savage how much they are trying to charge for it. They say the history supports the mileage whcih must also be xxxx. They are point blank refusing to give me my money back now even thought the original deal was to have it ready for last sat. He called me on the Fri and told me it was going to take longer. I told him thats probably because the gasket is bu88ered. It is very clean underneath glad I dodged that bullet. Going to call trading standards tomorrow as ive made the garage aware that the mileage isnt what they are advertising. Pr*cks

Surely an MOT history check would soon show the BS about the mileage?

Davie, you should call trading standards and show them this thread. Scandalous behaviour.
