Just done mine for the year.
46. No NCB [only had licence 3.5 years] Fully Comp. SDP. 4K miles. Locked garage. Import. All mods declared. Accident declared.
£650 with Diamond using Compare the meerkat.

Sky didn't call back. Flux wouldn't touch it. AIB was £2300

If its a 2nd car and your over 25 try classicline.
I'm 27 , no points or accidents they dont use no claims on a classic policy so you can Lump them on your main driver.
330 full comp

Thats what I had (classic insurance) for about the same price, only thing is you dont accumulate any no claims bonus over the life of the policy.
And after 2 years you loose the no claims you had if it not your second car :(
Thats what happened to me 10years no claims gone ](*,)
Sky sorted me out with the gt4 :thumleft:

I'm in London, £420 fully comp, import, mods declared, limited mileage with Adrian Flux. Sky were also quite competitive but nobody else (including the classic insurers) got close. Probably helps that it's my third car though.

Classicline

Post by cosmos »

Classicline is the name of the company, not necessarily to be confused with classic cars and related policy's regarding no claims bonus loss after two years. My MR2 is insured as a low mileage car that maintains its NCD year in year out.

When I sore classicline it reminded me of a mistake I made regarding classic car insurance  I was just passing it on :thumleft:

My present insurance is the same, low mileage and I get ncd :D wont make that mistake again.

I'm also with classicline and they have always been very good to me through various car/address changes etc and always offered the best price by quite far.

Give them a call you will be surprised :thumleft:

This ^^ I got a cheap quote from admiral and ended up going with sky where as someone else with near same details will get a sky high quote , how insurance companies come up with there quotes is beyond me, you can end up paying £100 more just because of you job title, for god sake dont say your a dj. ](*,) if your unemployed holy cow

Money expert has a calculator that tells you how much your job title costs you .

Do all the comparison sites and phone around too if you want the best deal :thumleft:

Cat 1 alarm and immobilizer and someone else on the policy can help, plus saying you have access to someone else's car. theirs lots of hints a tips on the net to get you a cheaper deal.

The postcode is the biggest killer. I moved house and ended up paying twice as much.

That is why asking on forums is pointless unless you have same car, same mods, live in the same road, same ncb, same mileage, same job, same age etc etc.

The only real way is spending time on the phone or comparison sites.

Admiral/Elephant/Bell are great until you need to claim. I speak from experience.

If you just want car insurance to tick a box and make yourself road legal, then by all means use them. If you want car insurance to protect yourself and your property in the event of an incident, I wouldn't! In this instance, you get what you pay for.

A few years back i was with elephant and their renewal was very high. Oddly, the best quote i got was from elephant as a new customer so i bought it online.

They then wanted proof of no claims and when i said it was with them and they have it, they told me they had to post it to me and i had to send it back?!

i then got two letters on the same day. one saying sorry you're leaving and the other saying welcome.

tools.
