[Mk2] [Turbo] New bushings for my suspension.

So when I bought my car, it had poly bushes installed. The ride was way too harsh, so I'm changing the springs and getting original Toyota bushings.. or so I thought.

Turns out that some of the bushes in the suspension only comes installed in the part that they go into. Like the lower control arms.

Does anyone know of someone who could supply replacement bushings? (not hard poly ones, but rubber ones like factory)

I would try the springs first. If the ride is still too harsh, look at the bushes.

You could always replace those a pair at a time anyway.

I agree try the springs first. Polybushes don't actually make the ride harder just firmer. I know that sounds confusing but the properties of the polymer allow it to respond to any vibration and dampen it more efficiently and effectively and they don't deteriorate over time like rubber does.

I've never known polybushes to be the cause of a harder ride but I have a feeling I may find out when this post is read.

My ride on the rev 5 was hard when I got the car but I replaced the struts and top mounts (with coilovers), polybushed all round and did the droplinks, however I only noticed a bigger diffrence in the ride comfort when I changed the ball joints. Only £25 each side and half an hour to fit. It may be worth looking at the suspension components one by one and eleiminating each item first.

My car was running some aftermarket springs with öhlin dampers. It had poly bushes all around, and some solid swaybar end links..

I'm currently overhaling the entire car.
I'll be running Eibach sportline springs with the öhlin dampers (will be rebuilt and dyno'ed). Stock swaybar end links. And then I was hoping on running stock bushes.

The suspension was super stiff before, and I would like a more comfortable ride. The front swaybar had ripped the mounting points though it looks to be stock.

Will be getting new stock balljoints, and top mounts.

I agree with you on the springs being the main cause, but I also don't want all the road noise, and every little bump going through the car. I like a good handling car as much as the next guy, but I'm not a pro racer, and with my skills, I probably won't be able to use the car to it's full potential anyway.

It's not uncommon, even on -- you'd assume -- relatively gently driven n/a cars.

Weld up the crack and then weld on a re-enforcing plate. One of the tweaking places in the States sells them, but easy enough to fab something at least as good.

Of course, if the ARBs are stiffer than stock it'll effectively make the springs stiffer and strain the mounts.

As someone whos ran two sets of ohlins, sell them to someone who doesnt use their car on the road and get a set of konis. They will be much better matched to your springs and should make for a very nice ride.

The stock tubby setup is fine ridewise, but personaly I dont like the bodyroll. I think with brand new black billies and std turbo springs with whiteline arbs would be a realy nice street setup.
