[Mk2] [NA] long long project wont start / poss fuel pump?

Post by Lucifer »

Hope someone can help...
Been slowly rebuilding my 1990 Mk2 MR2 NA for about 6 years on and off started with all the oily bits all where fine, stripped all the paint and now got her about 75% done and ready for rebuild

over the years she has been started every 6mths or so and never missed a beat but now wont start without starting spray

Ive given her a once over, fresh fuel, clean filter and no error codes on ecu

Looks like its a fuel pump issue :-( I did a bridge test B+ & FP I get a spark but no noise at all
is the pump usually pretty loud as just cant hear a thing

I'm wanting a 2nd opinion before I undergo removing the tank

Thanks for any input
:-)

Just pull the return line and run it into the bottle.ig on and bridge b+ fp you should get fuel.
Then check wiring.

got tank removed and pump seems to be the issue
was a nightmare to get out climbing on the engine to get at bolts lol

pump I think is gummed up as looks like it has a coat of varnish half way up with all the evaporated fuel but it lasted almost 24years so cant complain
