Got the engine back together tonight. Looks much better, just need to clean the exhaust heatshield up.

Battery was flat so had to jump start, nothing at first, realised no fuel was getting through. Gave it some throttle and it burst into life in spectacular fashion, scaring the xxxx out of a toddler stood near. ECU has also reset, resulting in joyous amounts of pops and crackles.

Also, big thanks for madbasshunter for sorting me put with a small valve I needed.

I think it just need an earth (Or at least older models did) for it to work. Obviously this is bad as it means you could play DVDs while travelling which would be wrong of course.

Yeah I just spliced it into the ground on the stereo harness. Video while driving is for the girlfriend so she has something to do on lengthy journeys.

Impressed with it so far.

May pop down then!

Swapped the dial bulbs over to white LEDs today. I'll more than likely do the heater controls at some point too.

Crappy photo but you get the idea.

Yeah, sure!

It's an absolute doddle, you need a screwdriver and 10 minutes spare. Easy, cheap and decent mod that improves the interior.

My bearing kit from Peter arrived today after he generously sent another when the first didn't show up, crappy Royal Mail.

Started fitting tonight, lower one came off and new one on in 5 minutes. Upper one however left the brass insert on the peg. Two hours later and i still couldn't get it off, so had to throw the old, split one back on for now.

Disappointed, any advice?

Owned it a year today, and ticked over 157,000 miles this week!

I ventured down to S-Bits to pick some wheels up from l1ca. For some reason, I had the idea of throwing them all in the MR2 and journeying home. Silly mistake. I ended up making 2 trips and having a nice chat with Peter while I was there, and he also advised me how to get the brass insert off so I can fit my SCBK.

Arrived home then with the wheels, a blowtorch, mole grips, and a few painting things.

Wheels will be getting sanded down and primered tomorrow, but I'm still undecided on colour so suggestions are welcome - the chrome lip will be going though.

Aside from that, the engine inspection panel is painted and fitted so the car looks much cleaner aaand that's about it!

A big thanks to l1ca for saving the wheels for me, and Peter for sparing a bit of his time.

Finally got the brass insert off this morning. Loads of corrosion between the two different metals which is why it wouldn't budge. Bit of heat and it soon came off.

These are the old ones:

Shifts are much tighter now. Two jobs left on the box now are an oil change, and spinning this round:Image

Been stripping the wheels this week, paint wasn't, neither was the primer under it.

Friend gave me his method. But I was getting nowhere with it really. So I took to a sanding wheel and a drill, and 150 grit for fiddly areas, soaked them in paint stripper and took them back to metal. Made sure the surface was smooth and first one is now in primer.

Got the wheels done and sold my old ones.

Bloke came on Friday night to pick them up, so I went to swap the new ones onto the car only to find my wheel nut socket is too wide to fit into the holes.

So the car was on axle stands until I managed to get some internal drive wheel nuts today.

Gone from 205/45 up front to 215/45, and 215/40 to 235/45 on the rear.

Feels much better to drive, nice to have tread again. And looks a little lower with the correct size tyres now.

Will get photos at some point.

Been fairly quiet the past few months. Had a new battery and handbrake cable. Thinking of switching to a turbo model next year. For now, a few photos:

So Christmas Eve I reversed this into a lamppost. Cracked the rear light and dented the wing above it.

Dent is getting repaired tomorrow, along with a new rear light.

Will also be fitting discs and pads all round and a service. Then a decent clean as it hasn't had one since early December.
