Went for an alignment and it couldn't be done as my rear tie rods are seized.
Where can I pick up a new pair for reasonable money?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply.
I could get them cheaper from twosrus myself. Pm me if you can do any better with the price.
And I'm living in Ireland.

Would have to concur with Peter on this one.
I used to get a lot of parts from TwosRus but back then it was $2 to the £ and import/handling duty etc was more of a game of chance as to whether you'd get hit, but nowdays you'll get charged pretty much every time. Plus the postage was cheaper.

Re: Rear tie rods? Where to buy?
Surely these can be manufactured over here at a much cheaper cost?
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.

Potentially, the two ends are 'off the shelf' items (Mk1 front steering end and the rose joint). However the centre bar may be custom fabricated and possibly the spacers too.
You'd have to sit down and crunch the numbers, but I suspect it'd be a close run thing for a set of the same quality.

This report is worth a look regarding after market rear tie bars

we're all safe who had purchased the mild steel versionbwrc wrote:This report is worth a look regarding after market rear tie bars

edit: silly me, there's no mild steel version so I painted mine for no reason at all

So if that's legit real-life testing then perhaps it is better to just stick with OEM parts? Are they still available from Mr T though? I expect mine are overly corroded and will need changing as part of my restoration so it's good to see what the options are at least
Cheers,
Mark

You will have to be sitting down for a cost from Toyota- Plus they are made from mild steel, clog up, rust and are next to useless after a few years.
I've got a set from Peter and they are top quality.

You arent going to bend either type of tie rod in normal use. If you're running huge cornering loads due to slicks, aero and trick suspension or have habit of bouncing of kerbs at speed then you might have an issue but for typical road use it's a non-issue.

I have made a set for a customer already and they were half the price of the American ones using the same parts (spacers were slightly different though)

I've also got a set from Peter and they are very good. They look really nice on the car. Peter tries to give good value. Early in 2012 he got twenty people together to do a group buy on these, shipping them in bulk and sending out individually. Think it might have been Mark 1 Club thing - can't remember. I see I paid just £107 for the set inc. postage and group discount. Guess they've increased US price a bit since then.
