Supercharger not charging....

Post by GaryR »

Hi,

my supercharger was working fine yesterday, but on this mornings trip to work it's down on power and I can't hear the Supercharger spinning up.

The Green-Light on the dash still comes on and I've had a quick look around the engine to make sure that all the pipes and wires are still connected and nothing appears to be loose or unplugged.

Any advice on how to narrow down what the problem might be would be greatly appreciated. The cars done about 135,000 miles and has been pretty much trouble free.

TIA

The green light is not an indicator of the supercharger clutch engaging.

It's been a fair few years, since I've had one. Check all the VSV vacuum piping. Also you can check that the clutch is getting a signal to engage. Check for any air leaks as it's operated on the vacuum dropping.

Worn clutches are fairly likely at this mileage though and that is a problem as there is not an easy solution to sort it out as parts are discontinued.

I'm sure Phil (Kaiowas) can give you better more up to date info than I.
