There were threaded fixings mounted in the bodywork, the arches were then bolted into them using round head allen bolts.

It did achieve a healthy speed at times..

haha, i might be having a change of plan with the car, the space we use to do these kind of things is out of bounds for the forseeable future due to the owner of it having a stroke 2 days ago

so rather than wait, i'm putting it into the same place it's getting painted and most likely just throw money at it, not exactly the route i wanted to go down but after seeing the shape of the arches (the inside that sits fluch with the tyre) i'm not confident i could do this myself :(

Definitely a job that needs doing properly, to avoid issues in the future.

One thing to watch out for is grit etc getting through the front arch gaps where the liners used to sit and protect your sill uppers. The previous owner of my old car didn't do anything about it and the door bottoms rubbed, quickly followed by damage and rot :| I was making the custom liners to overcome it going forward.

luckily i own a carwash, so i won't have that problem, my cars/bikes get washed literally everyday, otherwise customers come in and give sarky comments about them :)

Car goes to the bodyshop on Tuesday, so glad I'm not doing it myself now, my timeframe is for it to be finished by the end of june, frustratingly I can't even order the spacers for the wheels until the arches are on. I'll try and get as many pics as poss of the process.

I've not mate, the kit is at my carwash and the car is at home, the weather has been great so I've not been able to resist taking my bike to work :-D to be honest the kit lools like it'll slip right on, I wish I could say the same for the arches, they are gonna require a lot of work :-( either way it's in the hands of the pros now :-D whole kit fitted and whole car (and kit) painted for 1200, see the other thread regarding pricing haha :-D that's also mates rates. If it comes out as nice as the volvo I showed you then I'll be pretty happy :-D oh, can you send me your wheel specs?

Cheery man, thanks for your help, found a site that does 5mm up to 65mm so I'm sorted, after hours of research I think I'll just stick with spacers :-D

EDIT: meant to say, the guy who's doing it was appalled at the quality of the arches :(

The m3 looks tidy Sheppy, looks like your cars in safe hands. Metallic yellow? not for me but what ever floats your boat so to speak so go ahead and do it - its rare in life that you get the things you imagine to come to life so when the opportunity comes along make the most of it - your building and painting the car for you not for us.

my problem is i'm not very creative (musically i am) with stuff like this :( just fancy a colour that's a bit more modern looking, a friend suggested liquid yellow from the Clio 182. does look like a nice colour. and not as "in your face" as the current Solar Yellow :-k :-k

but yeah, the guy doing the work seems very clued up on what he's doing and his work speaks for itself really, as long as it's better than the way my current sideskirts are fitted and colour matched i'll be happy :)

done to a laughable standard in my opinion.....

just to note, these wheels are being painted white too without the red stripe :)
