rev2 turbo empty bay rev2 or rev3 replacement

Hi all bought my old car back minus engine and gearbox.

Obviously a rev2 lump and box be easier to do and probably cheaper to source.

Rev3 has many benefits but the prices on parts to do is steep as need ecu loom and sensors engine and box.

Option3 is a cheaper rev2 engine and box and covert using rev3 loom inlet cam injectors ecu and sensors.

Any advice for the experts here which would be best all round option. Time isn't a issue as car sat up sorn

If you want more power then it has to be a rev 3, if you only want a stock engine the a Rev 2 will do.

having had both rev2 and rev3 with identical mods, the rev3 is like a completely different car, sooooo much quicker.

i seen a complete engine with turbo and ancillaries (and ecu) for a GT4 for £500 on ebay. although if you buy all the parts separate, then i guess you could spread out the cost

i replied to the wrong post, i guess it depends on what you fitted, if you changed the head, injectors (as well as rev3 fuelling) and turbo then it's pretty much (give or take) the same as the rev3 engine.

Inlet cam injectors ecu wiring ditch AFM engine bay loom I was thinking. EBay item number for that engine ??

Id go rev 3 no doubt , its worth waiting for as youll instantly have more power than a stock rev 1-2 without all the hassle

Don't forget to factor in the cost of the usually overlooked items like cambelt kit, oil pump, water pump, fuel pump, gearbox sender, fluids, if needed etc. Added circa £500 to my Rev3 turbo conversion (for peace of mind) in total that I never budgeted for originally.

Just agreed price on a rev 3 turbo car to bring life to mine but so tidy can't bring myself to break it so put in for sale section lol

Not essential, but I didn't know the history of the engine so deemed it a necessary service item whilst the engine was out, for peace of mind as I said
