MOT fail

had the car in today and it failed on a few things

needs a small amount of welding on each sill cost £80
a rear wheel bearing
front pads
steering rack gaitor

not the best bill to come up to xmas
i am going to buy the parts
any good sites for all of the above

Hi thats quite minimal for a 15-20 year old car!

Places like the traders from here? Or TCB or Camskill etc..

You will be able to get the rack cover and wheel bearing from TCB

Any decent high street motor factors would be able to get the pads and bearing within an hour or so. They may need more time for a steering boot. You may be wise to consider a new set of front discs at the same time if they're worn as the new pad won't sit correctly if there are any deep grooves. The rear bearing aren't cheap - don't be tempted to buy inexpensive chinese copies - stick to a reputable brand

I'd be worried about having the sills patched up without investigating whats rotted out inside. An MoT and 'structurally sound' are 2 different things.

and to top it off i need a front caliper as it shot £350 mot bill oh well it is a 20year old car

Dude i know people throwing £500 quid on a corsa to get it through an MOT, you drive a 20 year old MR2 turbo with known Caliper issues (dont both my fronts). Front pads? All brakes wear. steering gaitors? 20 year old rubber, yea its likely to be shot. Mates Focus both had wheel bearings done.. and they are like 10 year old cars,
