Fuel solenoid resistor trouble

Post by joola89 »

Hey Guys,

Just having a spate of trouble on my MR2.

My MR2 rev2, converted to rev3 engine has started to run on 3 cyclinders. Tracked it down to injector 3 having no pulse (no output from the ecu). Checked that the injector is working and all is good. So after hours of head stratching (starting to get bold), finally tracked it down to the fuel solenoid resistor? See http://www.turbomr2.com/MR2/HowTo/Engin ... racket.jpg

Now, i can't remember if i swapped this when i did the conversion and my question is... what is the part number? Or can these be retro fitted? My part is so old that the numbers aren't readable.

Also.... Am I barking up the right tree?

Thanks in advance guys, starting to get frustrated.
Ray.

Things I've tried so far:-
Runs on 3 cyclinders so fuel pump/relay is working (correctly?)
Tried my ecu in another car and worked
Put a working a ecu into my car and failed
Switched injectors arounded, failed. Still no pulse
Checked conditions of wires, all good
Baffled.

Testing the resistor pack is easy.

You'll find it connects to the loom via a 5 pin plug. 1 wire is 12V+ in to the resistor pack. The other 4 wires feed 12V+ to the injectors. Inside the resistor pack are 4 resistors. If a resistor fails, you'll lose power to that injector.

Colours at the plug are:

12V+ in - black/red
Inj. 1 - red
Inj. 2 - blue
Inj. 3 - black
Inj. 4 - yellow

Unplug resistor pack and measure resistance of resistor pack. Resistance between B+ and each of injector outputs should be 4-6 ohms. If it's not, resistor pack is goosed.
