Squeaking Noise

Post by MR2daron »

Whenever the car is moving i have this squeaking noise coming from the back left wheel?!?

It doesnt go away after breaking, nor does it go away whilst accelerating..

I dunno what it is, but im not comfortable going to a garage without having some idea what it is.... just incase they say "Turbo that mate £4,000"

more info please:

does the sound change as you accelerate or slow down?

i knw what u mean about taking it to the garage.... they'll probably tighten a few bolts grease it up and charge you for the drive shaft or something!

i would jack it up for a start and have a little mess around- see if theres any play. thing with squeaks and noises is that usually they cant figure it out until it goes kaput!

Seriously tho, have you checked your brake pads?
Or could it possibly be the bearing dried up?

yeah, its kinda hard to say what what noise it makes..

but its there up to about 60mph high pitched squeak as the wheels go round, as the car comes to a stand still its like a squeaky door hinge kinda clicks before it eventually stops moving

hmmmm not sure- sounds like bearings but i'll have a chat with a friend of mine (mechanic) tonight when i see him- he'll probably say "bring it down, i'll have a look".... failing that, when everyones at work tommorrow someone will probably have had a similar problem in the past and would guide you in the right direction!

Yeah thats the best thing to do, when your pads wear down enough the squeelers touch the disk causing a, wait for it....squeeling sound.

Thats what my moneys on.

If its your left rear wheel then it would squeel louder when turning right as the feft rear wheel has to revolve faster when turning right, and same for the rear right vice versa, I recon you need to change the pads and perhaps free off the caliper.
