Silvertop 4AGE - Thoughts?

Post by Paddy_mr2 »

Fellas, new to the club but having owned several mk1s and a mk2 tubby I'm keen to get back into MR2s, specifically the mk1 and found this on ebay

I can't post a URL apparently but it's under "Toyota MR2 MK1 SILVERTOP 4AGE 20V" if you have time to search it out - red Mk1b in Cheshire, dealer selling.

Anyway what are your thoughts on the 20V transplant? If I was starting out it makes no sense in comparison to other conversions (on a £/bhp basis) but given that all the hard work is done on this one I wondered what you all thought of it?

Thanks,

It revs a bit higher, sounds nice due to the throttle bodies, but doesn't really seem to provide a big increase really.

Blacktop is better.

Some work to do with water pipes and looms too.

I second the above, the 20v makes no sense in the £ per BHP battle really, if it is a conversion you want there are far better routes that give much more bang for your buck.

Having said that, buying an already converted 20v for cheap makes good sense, there is just no way i'd spend the money converting one from scratch, just not enough gain.
