Congratulations mate on buying what is a cracking car.

Re: Simon Hick's Brighton Speed Trials MR2
I'm interested to know what a difference there is between 400 and 550hp

I'll certainly try and enter Brighton next year, as long as I can transfer all my suspension across in time and get a cage fitted.

Nice one

I would love a write up with how you feel about the differences between the two cars, hope it all goes to plan

Re: Simon Hick's Brighton Speed Trials MR2
I'll try and d a write up of it all, as long as I don't set any silly timescales, I can be quite methodical, goes out the window when I rush though.
.
.

Might try and take both cars to a track day together and see if 400hp with suspension mods is quicker than 550 without

He's only got the engine and box mate, the rest of it's right here with me

Guessing it'll be January before I'm putting the engine back in.

Re: Simon Hick's Brighton Speed Trials MR2
Midnight finish in the workshop this evening, so late reply.

A massive congratulations to Paul as the new owner of Simon's car.

Seeing so many MR2 through my workshop i don't often get attached to them, but having built Simon's car from a standard Rev3 to what it is now, it has definitely become a special car to my business.

Simon's desire and enthusiam to succeed at Brighton have been infectious over the years, and there have been many a late night spent on his car ensuring he had every chance of taking home the silverwear.

Like when the turbo blew on the dyno a few years ago 1 week before the Trials.
So a 500 round trip to remove it.
Simon's Dad raced it to Universal Turbos.
They rebuilt it in 24 hours.
I drove back down two days before the Trials to refit.
Took sump off first to check for any broken bearing bits.
All OK, refitted.
Went to get manifold, realised i had left it at home.

So drove 500 miles to home and back to Simon's.
Arrived 11:50pm.
Refitted turbo and all associated parts in silence through the night.
Finished 06:00.
Keys though letterbox.
Back home for a service in workshop at 9.40am.

Simon took for mapping following day on Friday.
Took class record one day later.

Or when i fitted the Syvecs ECU and ice box.
Syvecs arrived at last minute during week prior to the Trials.
Didn't start installing til end of day.
Trailer guy
(taking to Ryan for mapping) arrived 7:00am.
And i was still working on it.
.
.
.
Mapped later that day and beat his own class record 2 days later.

So yes, i have an attachment to the car.
And i am pleased, in fact relieved, it hasn't been bought by some pikee for breaking up.

Once again, congrats.
Paul.
You've bought a cracking car.

Re: Simon Hick's Brighton Speed Trials MR2
That was great read Peter.
No wonder you are attached to the car.
You have done a hell of a lot with the car and invested a great deal of hours.
Yeah sure it was kind of your job to but it's fair to say that you went above and beyond the call of duty with this one mate.
Fair play to you! It certainly paid off with the car.
I still think this was an absolute steal though.
.
.
Brilliant buy! And I am also glad it won't be getting broken up.
.
I hate to see that unless needs must.

Re: Simon Hick's Brighton Speed Trials MR2
Cheers Peter, good write up.
I'm glad you love it, I'll let you work on it for nothing if anything breaks, or 550HP gets
'boring'

Can you PM me what to texted me please, I don't have my phone with me.
