Not bad for £100. The bead has gone on one of the tyres and really the front two need replacing. The plan is to refurb them myself but not sure what colour to go for. Bronze/gold maybe?

Started respraying my wheels a nice roman bronze colour. The first one is going well anyway. Not laquered yet so not as shiny as it should be.

nice progress so far.

as you can clearly use a paint can,id suggest painting the turbo engine lid satin black..will look alot better imo..could also do the roof if the lacquer is peeling.

Thanks folks :thumleft:

DanT, a black roof is what I was thinking. Problem is that I don't have a garage to do it in. My current setup is a small tent in the back garden big enough to do one wheel at a time. Have just sprayed up my new splitter and that was a struggle. Was thinking of getting myself a gazebo with sides as a put up spray booth.

If you do it in satin black like my mates one you shouldn't need shelter ;)

:? He painted it with a brush?!

Two wheels finished :D Really annoying thing though. Look close and you'll see that the right hand wheel is a lighter bronze than the left hand one. They've both had the same number of coats of primer, paint and laquer. The only thing that was different is the cans of colour as i used one can for each wheel! Just have to hope that the back wheels end up either an in the middle colour or do the same thing.

Just bought some plasti dip. Thought i might give that stuff a go on the roof as it dries pretty quick. Will report back tuesday evening as to how well or badly it went.

Just waiting to get outside and find that the cats have torn the roof. It's bound to happen!

The furry faced idiot strikes!! Evidence of paw prints, hair and scratch marks down the side of the car ](*,) Luckily he hasn't torn the roof too! I've never known a cat to have such bad co-ordination.

New wheels are fitted, definately needs lowering! I've come a cropper though... the fronts touch the bottom of the collar that the suspension spring sits in. It only just touches, the wheel still spins but it squeaks and annoys me massively. I was thinking of fitting a 5mm spacer, thoughts please anyone?

Fit the 5mm spacer. However they already look like they poke out the arches a little?

Just an excuse to buy coilovers now

The spring perch is much thinner and adjustable. So you can lower it and have clearance at the same time. Two birds one stone and all that

The problem with coilovers is they're flipping expensive and i really can't justify buying some. If its just springs, i can fit them myself and it'll only cost 120 if i go for Apex. The wheels are just about in line with the arch. Would an extra 5mm make that much of a diffrence?

You should be ok with the spacers then. If they are noticeably protruding the arches you could get a telling off. Fitting springs wouldn't make a difference to where your wheels catch. As your not altering that distance. Alignment could possibly fix the issue as your camber may be out of alignment.
