id personally go for maybe a 205 up front and then the 225 on the rear to fill the arches nicer

That was my theory at first but I want to try and keep a 30mm stagger (the inch difference)

I'm thinking if I can get away with those tyres I'll just drop the coilovers down to match up / close the gap :)

I've liked these for ages I think they suit the 2 nicely :D

A 195 on the 7 inch rim at the front (J .. when attached to wheels is a description of a particular wheels profile rather than anything to do with size) will look pretty stretched. Also because of the resulting 'straight' sidewall it can make for a harsh ride since it doesn't flex much. True it'll make it fractionally more inclined to oversteer than the 195 but in my opinion (I drove for 5 yrs with a 195 front on a 7" rim and the subsequent 9yrs with the 205) it's a more neutral set up and looks and feels an awful lot better...

Cheers for that it's always best to find out from someone with experience :-)

Guess I'll not be doing that then :-(

Well time for a quick update, Having recently got the car / being sceptical about the history I popped out to get some plugs/ oil filter for the car. After motor factors didn't bring much up I went to Toyota to ask a few things ie the right oil / manufacture date of the car as I wasn't sure if it should or shouldn't have a cat

Anyways bought the plugs / oil filter / oil drain plug which cost me £70 :(

Won't be going there again haha. Anyways changed the plugs over and noticed a few issues which I'll need to keep an eye on. One of the plugs (closest to drivers side) has a somewhat burnt tip and the others seem to have a coating of oil on them (not the tips they seem fine)

I hear this is a common problem and it's a gasket at fault can anyone confirm at all please?

Anyways fired the car up / took it for a run it now seems nubs more responsive so I'm happy again for now haha

Alloys hopefully arriving this week too :D

No mate something came up and the deal fell through sadly :(

Instead of modding I've been doing the general stuff getting it tip top. Given it a good service and now it pulls a lot better. I'm going to get the timing looked at at some point to see if I can gain anything rom it

Apart from that I'm after a new front wing as mine's rusting yet has been painted over the top for some reason

That and some new toblerones etc and she'll be how I want her apart from alloys lol

Stick with the 20mm stagger. Kills a lot of the understeer you get with such a light front end.

Cheers. I'm only running standard wheels but using a 30mm stagger and it feels MUCH more planted than it did n the previous alloys which were only staggered with the tyres. I've never been so scared of driving a car in my life. It's a lot better now even on the OEM wheels :)

I'd wager that's the fact that the wheels weren't silly offsets and massively too wide without spigot rings!

I have your exact setup (Enkei RP-02, ET35/ET38) with 205/225 wheels and the handling is just how I like it. Rarely ever any understeer which I did get with standard wheels.

You're definitely right about the offsets / wide wheels. 8.5J ET36 All Round yet with 20mm front / 25mm rear spacers = very bad idea which is why I'm on standard wheels at the minute as the Enkei deal didn't go through :(

Nah mate sold them ages ago as they were too wide to fit the OEM studs / needed spacers etc. Too uch hassle I couldn't be bothered with it all :)

Well time for a quick update as I've not done much

Having swapped to standard wheels and then finding out hat the rear tyres are almost 15 years old I'll be looking to get them changed when I can.
However in more important news I've popped the 2 into a garage to find out what it's going to need in for it's MOT in October and found out from Chris also that I'm going to needa fair bit doing :-(

Structurally speaking the sills are fine there's a bit of rust although the sills aren't bad for a car that's 21 years old now

It is however going to need front and rear drop links, a track rod end, the suspension is going to need to be adjusted as the drivers side spring can be literally slid up and down the shock which isn't exactly ideal, some front brake pads, steering gaiters and that's before I've got to the emissions although as it's a 92 the tester is doing it as a non cat (he asked his senior foreman as he wasn't sure himself)

So certainly not a cheap amount of bits needed although I expect once it's all set up properly it should feel much better to drive (fingers crossed anyway)

When that's all done and the tax is bought too I've finally decided which alloys I want too :-D

More soon hopefully

17in..think there 6.5 or 7j et38

Running 215 40s front and 235 rears although could run 225

They fit fine with no need for spacers etc or rubbing the arches.

There mint wheels. .After 250 due to the rear tyres needing changed

Not that much buddy to be honest.

I want staggered or minimum 30mm difference in tyres which I can't do on a 7j rim so no good to me but cheers :)
