Volk F-Zero Challenge Wheels - What Colour to Sell?

Post by Nic »

Image Image

I've had my Volk F-Zero Challenge wheels media blasted back to bare metal, next step is to powder coat them, then they will be up for sale. I'm trying to decide which colour to do them, ie. which colour would get the most buyer interest?

I'm thinking either satin black or satin gunmetal grey (they will be one colour with the graphics and Volk Racing text polished).

Alternatively, if anyone is interested in buying the wheels, I could get them painted the colour of your choice.

Example in satin black

Hi Nic

I would say Gun Metal Grey, not a fan of black wheels, but having said that a lot of people are.

So grey for me.

I suspect the problem you'll have is that they're 18s? You're possibly trying to sell to the wrong market place.

Would've said they'd be most valuable in their original colours, personally.

Mine are gun metal grey and i think they look superb. Also not a fan of black wheels, especially on a black car, you lose a lot of visual detail/lines as everything just looks black.

Also not a fan of black. Original or a nice gunmetal grey would get my vote

I know this wasn't the question Nic but I have to agree with Calum, these are probably worth more in their stock colour and try somewhere like Driftworks.

It'll save you a lot of hassle and expense and if you don't get any response then look at painting them.

I also prefer gunmetal :thumleft:

Even just logistically, unless the wheels are in really bad condition just now, powdercoating them or getting them painted at a cost of (say) £150-250 isn't going to add £150-250 on top of the sale price I suspect.

Thanks guys for the opinions very helpful :thumleft: Never realised there were so many black wheel haters! :) I personally love black wheels but I think I'll go with the advice and redo them in the standard colours.

I might be interested in them. How much would you be looking for without treatment/paint?

Also, what are the exact dimensions?

I'm going to get these refurbished but can only do in one colour, so do I go satin/gloss Silver, satin/gloss Gunmetal Grey or satin/gloss Black.

The wheels will be up for sale so if anyone is interested in them and want a particular finish drop me a pm to discuss details. I could also sell the wheels stripped back to bare metal or as they are if preferred.

Nothing wrong with 18s in my opinion. In fact, my car feels smoother to drive on 18s than 17s.

Really don't understand why people think that 18s are a no no on MR2s :?

As for colour, I'd go gunmetal. Great wheels though mate! 8)

Thanks mate, I'm thinking either satin gunmetal or silver.

It does feel very planted on the road on the wheel/tyre combo (18"x8"/18"x9" Falken FK452 - 215/35R18 & 255/35R18), tons of grip wet or dry. Very stable at silly speeds on the motorway and provided the car isn't lowered too much the ride quality isn't bad on A and B roads.

These videos - embarrassing a couple of TT Supras at Santa Pod :D - demonstrate how much grip the rear tyres give.
