[Mk1] [Turbo] rev 2 turbo.. please help.. a little depressed now

Post by pistol pete »

yeah i have got to the stage where i am angry everything is done, and it just won't run...

it has ran, but badly, found timing one tooth out, changed, re checked about 5 times..
it ran idled but hunted for about a minute then died. assumed an air leak..
did a smoke test on the engine found a hole in manifold i had failed to blank, blanked off
always suspected the afm was a bit dodgy so got another from a breakers apparently from running car

also today put 5 litres of fuel in to make sure had enough, then change fuel filter as had a dent in it..

engine reads no fault codes at all just flashes as it should
dizzy set in the middle
has a spark, checked compression several times..

and it just won't start.. turns over fine no problem just won't fire..
i really just want it done now so i can enjoy it but tis driving me mad!!!

please where do i go...

p.s. in case you dont know its a mk1 mr2 rev 1 engine with rev 2 ecu and loom and any plugs needed changed over.. but like said its run and i even manage to drive it on the drive
wired using a motorsport wiring man using paul manual..

Sounds like it still has a leak in the boost pipes some where, I had the same problem and it turned out to be 1 of the silicone hoses that joins the charge cooler to the boost pipe had a split in it underneath so u could not see it

Thanks but
Nope no leaks as used pressure smoke on the inlet to push smoke out of any holes ;)

Hmm,

If you've been trying to start it repeatedly without luck, there's a strong chance the plugs have been fouled. Try cleaning them or better yet, chuck a new set in.

Well..

back to basics. As my grandad said you need air, fuel and a spark.

Are the plugs wet?

Are you getting fuel?

Are you getting a spark?

Pulled the plugs 1 by 1?

Correct order?

AFM stuck open?

well it stopped working again last night.. and with the leads being brand new as well as the plugs. Patrick said maybe to coil letting go under pressure when trying to run the engine
so i had a look and it was covered in silicon
peeled that off and found this..
